The 2XV hosted Sutton & Epsom 2s this week at Monkton Lane. The visitors sitting in 2nd place in the league 2 points above Farnham.
The visitors started brightly and knocked over an early penalty however Farnham quickly shifted into gear with total domination at scrum time leading to some good front foot ball and two early tries through Dan Sweeney and Alex Wennen. The latter coming off the back of a huge turnover at scrum time and a break up the blindside from 60m out.
S&E got back into the game and 2 tries followed with the 2nd against the run of play following a charge down and lucky bounce in midfield. But the 2nd half, the boys came out firing and two excellent tries from young centre Jamie Munro saw the home team open up an 11 point gap.
S&E hit back with a converted try but it was too little too late and some big last few mins defending saw the hosts keep them out to come out victors 26-22.
Special mention to the scrum who dominated all day long with the youngsters out wide adding the finishing touches. A speedy recovery to Dan Sweeney who broke his leg in the 2nd half following a very dominant performance at scrum and the ball in hand.
A visit to Rosslyn Park next week as the boys look to push towards top spot in the league.
