Match Report by Ed Simpson
After an assured start, Farnham weathered the RP storm for the next 20 minutes, limiting the hosts to a single converted try. Crucially Harry Chilcott went over under the sticks from close range on the stroke of half time, converted by Pat Sykes. Farnham came out in the second half all guns blazing, the ranks bolstered by the bench consisting largely of the younger age group. The boys’ pressure was rewarded with a penalty converted by Fred Harris. Minutes later Jude Thompson went over after the forwards pounded the line with Harris adding the extras. Thompson might have gone over again shortly afterwards but was held up. Although the hosts missed a penalty at the death, Farnham’s committed defence won the day.
